RANDY DAY RACING:

Last thursday 2 members of the Day Racing crew were involved in a

head on accident on M22 just north of Traverse City. Doug Day was driving the truck that was struck head on when a woman heading northbound

swerved to miss a turning car and went into the path of the truck. Both vehicles were estimated  at over 50 mph at the point of impact.

Bob Day was the passenger and was treated and released Thursday

nite with cuts and bruises along with being very sore.Doug Day was

released monday and has a long road  to recovery. Doug has a

compressed vertebra in his lower back, broken foot, along with cuts and bruises. He will have to do physicaltherapy and will not be able

to work for a long time. Both my dad Bob and uncle Doug are expected to make a full recovery. My dad said he plans on going to Kalamazoo Speedway this saturday and will help on the car as much as he canbut will not push

himself. My uncle is looking forward  to the time he can return to the track. We thank everybody for their support they have given us

DONNIE NELSON:   (FROM THE GALESBURG SPEEDWAY WEBSITE):

Surgeon from Ann Arbor (Monday afternoon)
As of today there is still no change in Donnie. There is a surgeon coming up this evening from Ann Arbor, more info will follow later today.

Still waiting on the Word (Sunday PM update)
Well the word on Donnie is still waiting, but I will give you the updates that I know. I stopped at the hospital on Saturday night and they were not sure if he was going to make it, but the angels where watching over and the hope is still there. I went there Sunday and talked to some of the family and these are the updates that I have. He has a very serious neck injury involving the bone that connects the brain stem to the spine which is broke. They have compared this injury to the type that Earnhardt Sr. died from. If the bone in his neck would have broken any lower it would have killed him instantly they said. Both of his ankles are shattered. He is on life support, but is breathing 30% on his own. He is in a medically induced coma, and the brain swelling has went down. The next 4 to 10 days are the critical stages and it will just be time in finding out more info. He is still at Borgess hospital in the ICU unit and his condition is still very critical. I will be sure to let you know more info as I receive it.

Please remember to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers
